10 Ways to Make Your OB Unit a “Suit Free” Zone: A Checklist for Perinatal Risk Professionals
Speaker
Larry Veltman, MD, FACOG, CPHRM, DFASHRM
This presentation addresses strategies for reducing the chance for adverse outcomes on your perinatal unit. After a discussion of the vulnerabilities that are generally found in obstetrical care, 10 opportunities for mitigating risk and improving safety in obstetrics will be presented. Since many serious adverse obstetrical events result in legal scrutiny, a “suit-free zone” becomes a metaphor for safer perinatal care. This meeting has been approved for 1 contact hour of Continuing Education Credit toward fulfillment of the requirements of ASHRM designations of FASHRM (Fellow) and DFASHRM (Distinguished Fellow) and towards CPHRM renewal.
