Advancing LGBTQ+ Health Equity and Inclusion - Webinar 2023
Speaker
Tari Hanneman, Director of the Health and Aging Program at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation
Description
Health care quality and health outcomes are often worse for racial/ethnic minorities, women, people with disabilities, and those living in poverty. LGBTQ+ people face worse health outcomes than their non-LGBTQ+ peers in just about every category. In order to achieve sustainable improvement, health equity must be viewed as a quality-of-care problem and requires an understanding of the root causes. This webinar discusses the Healthcare Equality Index and provides practical training and resources to help healthcare organizations analyze, update, and adopt policies and practices relating to transgender healthcare and LGBTQ+ inclusivity. This meeting has been approved for 1 contact hour of Continuing Education Credit toward fulfillment of the requirements of ASHRM designations of FASHRM (Fellow) and DFASHRM (Distinguished Fellow) and towards CPHRM renewal.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the webinar, the participant should be able to:
- Identify best practices for providing equitable and inclusive care for LGBTQ+ community members.
- Evaluate patient safety issues related to discrimination in healthcare.
- Evaluate areas where implicit bias can influence health equity.
